Compatible watches and bands
SUMAAI doesn't connect directly to your watch. It reads your data from Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iPhone). If your watch sends its data there, SUMAAI can use it.
What SUMAAI reads
Steps, workouts, active and total calories, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep, weight and body fat percentage. SUMAAI only reads: it doesn't write anything to Health Connect or Apple Health, and it doesn't read your location.
We use your workout heart rate (average and max) to work out how intense each workout was. Your watch just needs to send it while you exercise.

Don't see your brand? Look for “Health Connect” or “Apple Health” in your watch app's settings. If it isn't there, your watch probably doesn't share data with other apps.
How to connect it
It takes two steps: 1) in your watch's app, turn on sharing to Health Connect or Apple Health (just once), and 2) in SUMAAI, open Profile → Physical activity and tap Connect Health Connect or Connect Apple Health.
Before you start
On Android 14 or later, Health Connect is already on your phone. On Android 13 or earlier, SUMAAI will ask you to install it with the Install Health Connect button.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
- Open Samsung Health → Settings → Health Connect.
- Allow Samsung Health to share steps, exercise, heart rate and any other data you want.
- Open Samsung Health once so it starts syncing.
Google Pixel Watch or Fitbit
The Fitbit app is now called Google Health.
- Open Google Health and tap Connections (top left) → Partner apps.
- Choose to sync with Health Connect and tap Set up.
- Choose the data you want to share and tap Allow.
Garmin
Requires Android 14 or later.
- Open Garmin Connect and look for Health Connect in the app's settings.
- Allow sharing of steps, activities and heart rate.
- Sync your watch with Garmin Connect. Data moves to Health Connect after each sync.
Polar
- Open Polar Flow → General settings.
- Turn on Health Connect and choose the data.
Oura
- Open Oura → menu (top left) → Settings.
- Under data sharing, tap Health Connect and turn on the data you want to share.
Xiaomi or Redmi (Mi Fitness)
- Open Mi Fitness → Profile and look for Health Connect.
- Turn it on and allow steps, exercise and heart rate.
- Sync your watch or band with Mi Fitness regularly.
Amazfit (Zepp)
- Open Zepp → Profile and look for Health Connect under linked accounts.
- Authorize it and choose which data to share.
WHOOP
- In the WHOOP app, look for Health Connect under integrations.
- Allow WHOOP to send its data to Health Connect.
Huawei (not official)
Huawei Health doesn't share data with Health Connect. There's no official way to connect a Huawei watch to SUMAAI on Android.
There are paid third-party apps, like Health Sync (by appyhapps), that copy data from Huawei Health to Health Connect. They weren't made by Huawei or SUMAAI, and we can't guarantee which data comes through or that they'll keep working. If you use one, pick Huawei Health as the source and Health Connect as the destination.
Check SUMAAI's permissions
Open Health → your profile → Apps → Suma AI and turn on every category. For privacy reasons, Apple doesn't tell SUMAAI which data you allowed, so check it there.
Apple Watch
You don't need to do anything on the watch: your steps, workouts and heart rate go to Health automatically. Just connect Apple Health in SUMAAI.
Google Pixel Watch or Fitbit
- Open Google Health → Connections and choose Apple Health.
- Tap Get started, accept and turn on every category.
- Requires iOS 16.4 or later.
Garmin
- Open Garmin Connect and look for Apple Health under connected apps in settings.
- Turn on steps, workouts and heart rate.
Polar
- Open Polar Flow → More → General settings.
- Turn on Apple Health, choose the categories and tap Allow.
Oura
- Open Oura → menu → Settings → data sharing → Apple Health.
- Turn on the connection with Health.
Xiaomi or Redmi (Mi Fitness)
- First turn on cloud sync in Mi Fitness → Profile → Settings.
- Go to Profile → Third-party data → Health, turn it on and choose the data.
Amazfit (Zepp)
- Open Zepp → Profile and look for Apple Health under linked accounts.
- Authorize it and choose which data to share.
WHOOP
- In the WHOOP app, look for Apple Health under integrations and turn on syncing.
COROS
- Open COROS → Profile → Settings and look for third-party app sync → Apple Health.
- Choose steps and heart rate.
Huawei (partial)
- Open Huawei Health → Me and look for the option to share data with Health.
- Turn on the available data.
Huawei mostly shares exercise and sleep. We can't confirm that it sends your steps or heart rate.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
Galaxy Watch4 and later don't work with iPhone.
If something isn't working
My steps or workouts don't show up
- Open your watch's app first and sync it. SUMAAI only sees what has already reached Health Connect or Health.
- Check that sharing is turned on in your watch's app (see the steps above).
- In SUMAAI, go to Profile → Physical activity and tap Sync now.
- Android: tap Health Connect permissions and check that SUMAAI can read steps, exercise and heart rate. If anything is missing, tap Grant more permissions.
- iPhone: in Health → your profile → Apps → Suma AI, turn on every category.
My data arrives late
Many watches send data when they sync with their app, not in real time. Open your watch's app, wait for it to finish syncing and then open SUMAAI.
Android stops syncing (battery)
Some phones close apps running in the background. In Settings → Apps → [your watch's app] → Battery, choose Unrestricted. The menu name varies by phone brand.
My steps don't match my watch
If both your phone and your watch count steps, Health Connect or Health picks one source based on its priority. On iPhone: Health → Browse → Activity → Steps → Data Sources & Access → Edit and move your watch to the top. On Android, set the app priority in Health Connect.
My resting heart rate is missing
Some brands don't share it (Samsung and Oura on Android, for example). SUMAAI can't read it if your watch doesn't send it.
I only see 30 days of history (Android)
Health Connect lets apps read the 30 days before you connect them, plus everything new from then on.
Menu names may change depending on your watch app's version. Is your watch missing, or does something not match? Email us at contacto@sumaai.app and we'll look into it.
